I just want to tell you that he seems all right, but he's dangerous if you cross him, and the others don't really trust him, so don't - you know - depend on him to get stuff accomplished that you want to get accomplished. Does that make sense?
It doesn't matter that much now. He told me he's too busy with other stuff to torture the information out of me, which, brilliant thing to hear. Anyway. He doesn't want me having my job, and doesn't like me, and all that. Not much he can do about it now, though.
So he's got it out for you like he wants you to be sacked, not that he wants you to be--tortured and dead and all? Or does he want both? But he's busy--

You were part of the mage rebellion, yeah? You find out that some of the people you fought with are in hiding in Minrathous. Do you feed Flint their names and locations so that he can find them and make them fight for him? Of course not. It's not their obligation to be useful to us. It's their obligation to fight for their freedom.
Yeah, of course I was, and I wouldn't-- I mean, yeah. No. But it could work both ways, right? For their favor, and for our favor. They could use the help, I'd reckon, whereas the mages--
It's not that they wouldn't want help. But they've got a good start. So they don't need it as badly. Whereas slaves in Tevinter, that's like... low. They haven't got much. We didn't either, when we left the Circles, but that was years ago, and we're doing loads better now.
And when you were low and powerless. Would you want some - some charismatic speech-maker who knows just what to say to win your trust, but who doesn't have your best interests at heart - Would you want him talking to your people? Convincing them to die for his cause?
[Hm. Matthias thinks on that a moment. Not very long, of course; it's not his way to think very long.]
I'll watch out then, won't I. And make sure there's nothing like that about. 'Cause if I'm his assistant, that means I can keep an eye on everything, right? And do the work.
